The Reverend Joe Simon, with a prestigious career
dating back 30+ years, certainly has to rank high on any list of all-time
soul music giants. His latest release is his first gospel recording,
"This Story Must Be Told" on Ripete Records.
On February 25, 1999, The Rhythm & Blues Foundation will honor The
Reverend Simon with it's Lifetime Achievement Award for 1999 for his contribution
to this rich art form, one of the most truly American forms of musical
expression.
Check out the rare and highly sought after early career gems like Let's
Do It Over on Soul Patrol Vol. 1, cut
for Hush Records in 1964.
Simon then hit full stride when he teamed with the legendary WLAC DJ,
John R, in a production deal for Sound Stage 7 and Spring Records that
resulted in a staggering string of chart succeesses during the late 60s
and 70s. |
